JOEKING
JOEKING
I was asked by a client to make them a unique bike in the same genre as the Hexachine. At first I wondered if I should continue with the 3 downtubes design and use that as my trademark. I then came up with an idea that I was unsure would work, but if it did could be one of the most unique and versatile designs for a bike frame.
Design
This bike frame was originally designed to be constructed out of aluminum with a unique feature where the downtube would be a solid plate with writing milled out. This plate would have the clients logo in it, JOEKing. ASTM standards where used in order to simulate the forces on the unique downtube. This resulted in a loss of lateral frame stiffness (about 20% when compared to a regular tube) and a enormous increase in tensional strength.
Material
Would have been fabricated out of 6061 or 7005 aluminum.
Manufacturing
Unfortunately the client ran out of funds, and the bike frame was never completed.
