EHFORK

The client had a track bike that was set up for speed. Unfortunately he decided that he wanted to do tricks instead. For this he needed a fork that could allow his bike to do bar spins with a 700c wheel. Unfortunately his headtube was made for a 1 inch threadless fork, a very uncommon sight when it comes to “beefy” trick forks.

Design

I had never made a fork before, so I based my design on similar types of forks for bigger bikes and then reduced the neck size in order to account for the smaller headtube. The first design was made of tubing which according to FEA was able to withstand ASTM standard forces, but unfortunately was not able to withstand the harsh environment of a trick rider. The second fork, unfortunately suffered the same fate, over a longer course of action.

Material

Both forks where made out of chromoly, although one was left with a clear coat finish while the other was painted.

Manufacturing

This was a very simple build the tubes were cut notched & welded.
